What is a Restorative Arts Retreat?
We all experience grief at some point in our lives. The grieving process is difficult on its best days and unimaginable on its worst days. Sometimes, grief causes us to lose our way and our hurt blinds our hearts to God’s presence in our lives.
Having someone that understands the grieving process and is properly trained to walk alongside us when we are grieving can help us rediscover God’s love and purpose for us.
A United Adoration Restorative Arts Retreat is designed for people to engage in creative exercises that lead them to connect with God while processing grief and trauma.
Every Restorative Arts Retreat is led by a licensed professional counselor.
What happens at a Restorative Arts Retreat?
During a Restorative Arts Retreat, participants will take part in three creative exercises that will lead them to move through lament, reconnect with their Creator, and walk in collaboration with other believers.
In addition, we have dedicated times throughout the retreat for devotions and prayer. We always encourage a Pastor from the host church to lead a prayer, devotional, or blessing during the retreat. Each participant also has the opportunity for a consultation with a Licensed Professional Counselor.
We also provide an Inspiration Packet to each attendee which contains a collection of Scriptures, artwork, and prayers based on the creative exercises.
What is the schedule of a Restorative Arts Retreat?
A typical United Adoration Restorative Arts Retreat begins on Friday evening and ends Saturday before dinner. The start and end times for each day vary depending on the schedule and availability of the host church or venue.
If our typical retreat schedule is not possible or preferred at the host church or venue, we are happy to do our best to adjust to meet your unique needs. Scheduling is flexible based on context.
How much does a Restorative Arts Retreat cost?
Church budgets are tight. We get it. Many of our United Adoration leaders are Pastors or on staff at their home churches, so we understand that every dollar counts. Our desire is to make a retreat as accessible as possible for your church.
In order to host a Restorative Arts Retreat, the host church commits to making the following contributions:
- Space for the Retreat – This could be the church building or another venue.
- Printing of the Retreat Materials – Every participant will need a schedule and a page with specific Scripture verses for the retreat.
- Food & Hospitality for the Participants – Typically this will include a couple of meals, drinks, and snacks. As the host, you are free to decide whether you want to cater or use your own hospitality teams.
- Travel and Lodging for the Counselor – The retreat is led by a licensed counselor, so if they are not located close to you, we request that the host church provides for their travel and lodging.
United Adoration handles the registration process for retreats and charges a modest registration fee when each participant registers.
The retreats are designed to have 15-30 participants. The registration fee for each participant is $125. This fee provides for necessary supplies for each participant to complete three creative activities, including the Inspiration Packet. The fee also provides each participant with access to consultation with a licensed professional counselor.
How do people find out about the Restorative Arts Retreat?
The primary group of participants for a Restorative Arts Retreat are the people who attend the host church. It’s important that the Restorative Arts Retreat is well advertised at the host church and congregant members are personally invited
We also encourage the host church to invite other members of the community in the area. Some good ways to do this would be to invite partner churches or ministries to attend, share the UA Restorative Arts Retreat on your social media channels, and advertise locally.
United Adoration also spreads the word about the retreat through our social media channels, email lists, and personal invitations of people we know who live in the area.
